Wake-up call – World Rabies Day

FOR WORLD RABIES DAY
CLIENT: ARTEMIS ONE HEALTH RESEARCH FOUNDATION
STORYTELLING ILLUSTRATION:
“WE LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE NEGLECTED DISEASES SEEM TO BE ACCEPTABLE”…
Every year, ≈ 60,000 people die from rabies. Men, women and most of all the “innocent” children!
The question is: What does it take for 60,000 people to die a year???
A Horrible tragedy: A full 747 crash (∼430 deaths) every other day.
Men, women, and innocent children who will lose their lives, on their way to their holiday destination, their homes, their loved ones, or their job obligations.
In the case of rabies, we need one such crash every other day for a year to reach the 60,000 deaths.
TASK:
To make an impact and at the same time illustrate the annual death cases of this preventable disease, we have created an animated illustration of a crashing Boeing 747. The idea came initially from the Chief Scientific Officer of Artemis One Health Research Foundation. Together with our creative team we performed some research and collected images of crashed 747 planes and used our creativity to develop this image. For this project, we have collaborated with illustrator “Argha” from the moving pixel company.
Creative process
STAGE 1. DRAFT SKETCH

STAGE 2. ADDING COLORS

STAGE 3. TO MAKE A MORE DRAMATIC IMPACT, WE HAVE DECIDED TO ADD FIRE AND MORE SMOKE TO THE ILLUSTRATION.
